Things people ask before they call.
It depends on the room size, ceiling height, how much sun it gets and how well it's insulated. A typical bedroom lands around 2.5 kW, an open-plan living area 7 kW or more. We size it over the phone or a video call so you're not paying to run a unit that's too big, or fighting one that's too small.
A standard split system takes 3 to 4 hours, so it's done in a morning. Multi-head systems are usually a full day. Ducted takes one to two days depending on the house and the number of zones.
A modern inverter split cooling one room costs roughly 20 to 40 cents an hour at current tariffs, so an evening of cooling is often under two dollars. Ducted costs more to run but cools the whole house. We'll give you the running cost estimate with the quote.
For most houses, no. Split and ducted systems are usually exempt development in NSW as long as noise limits and boundary setbacks are met, which we design for. Strata buildings and heritage properties can have their own rules, and we'll tell you before we quote.
Once a year for a home system, ideally in spring before it works hard. Clean the filters yourself every couple of months. A serviced unit uses less power, smells better and lasts years longer.
Yes, if it's in good condition. We recover the refrigerant properly, relocate the indoor and outdoor units, run new lines where needed and recommission it. If the unit is old or on a phased-out refrigerant, we'll tell you straight whether replacing makes more sense.
